To attract more skilled workers and graduates to Eastern Canada, the government launched the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). It provides a more direct and less demanding pathway to permanent residency for applicants who wish to settle in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island (PEI), or Nova Scotia.
š” What is AIP & Who is it for?
AIP is an employer-driven program, meaning applicants must secure a full-time job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada to apply for PR.

Individuals who wish to work and settle in Eastern Canada
International students who want to stay in Atlantic provinces after graduation
Applicants who cannot meet the high CRS score requirements under Express Entry
Those aiming to immigrate through employment opportunities
Three Application Streams
āļø International Graduate Program
Graduated within the past 2 years from a designated institution in Atlantic Canada
Hold a valid post-graduation work permit (PGWP)
No work experience required!
āļø High-Skilled Program
At least 1 year of full-time work experience (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) in the last 5 years
High school diploma or higher, CLB 5 in English/French
āļø Intermediate-Skilled Program
For technical and trade jobs (e.g., food processing, caregivers, truck drivers)
Requires TEER 4 work experience, CLB 4 language level
š Basic Eligibility Requirements
Full-time job offer from a designated employer
Language: CLB 4ā5 (depending on stream)
Education: high school or post-secondary (foreign credentials require ECA)
Work experience: not required for graduates stream
Settlement commitment: intention to live in the hiring Atlantic province

Secure a job offer from a Designated Employer
Complete a Settlement PlanĀ with a local immigrant service agency
Employer applies for EndorsementĀ from the provincial government
Submit PR application to IRCC (can also apply for work permit to begin working while PR is processed)
