2025 Saskatchewan Immigration Policy Update|Attention Employers and Skilled Workers!

ree

📌 Federal Quota Reduction

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) will undergo major changes in 2025! The Canadian federal government will cut nomination quotas by 50%, from 7,250 down to 3,625, and 75% of these spots will be reserved for temporary residents already in Canada.

📌 Closure of Specific Categories

The following categories have been permanently closed as of March 27, 2025:

  • Entrepreneur Category

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Sub-Category

  • Farm Owner/Operator Category

Key changes effective March 27, 2025:

  • Most applicants must already be temporary residents in Canada.

  • Only healthcare, agriculture, and technical occupations will be eligible for direct recruitment from abroad.

  • Industry restrictions: Certain industries such as hospitality & food services, retail, and trucking will face a 25% quota cap.

  • If your business is not in a priority sector, you can only hire temporary residents already in Canada to obtain a Job Approval Letter (JAL).

📌 Impact on Applicants

  • If you are applying from abroad and your occupation is not on the priority list, your chances of success will drop significantly.

  • Temporary residents already in Canada (e.g., with work or study permits) will have much higher approval rates.

  • Applicants in certain industries may not receive nominations due to quota limits, even if they submit a Job Approval Letter.

Recommendations & Actions

  • Check if your occupation belongs to a priority sector before applying.

  • Consider entering Canada first as a temporary resident (work or study permit) to increase your chances.

  • Stay updated with SINP announcements to keep track of policy changes.

💡 What does this mean for you?

  • Employers – Act quickly to secure talent before the new rules fully take effect.

  • Applicants – If you are planning to apply for SINP, now is the time to seize the opportunity!
