🚨 Attention Employers and Skilled Workers!
Federal Quota Reduction
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) will undergo significant changes in 2025!
The federal government will cut the provincial nomination quota by 50%, from 7,250 to 3,625 spots, and 75% of nominations will be allocated to temporary residents already in Canada.
Closure of Certain Immigration Streams
As of March 27, 2025, the following SINP categories are permanently closed:
Entrepreneur Category
International Graduate Entrepreneur Sub-Category
Farm Owner/Operator Category
Starting March 27, 2025, key changes include:
Most applicants must already hold temporary resident status in Canada.
Only healthcare, agriculture, and tech occupations will allow direct recruitment from overseas.
New industry restrictions: Hospitality & food services, retail, and trucking sectors will face a 25% cap on nominations.
Employers outside priority industries can only hire temporary residents already in Canada to obtain a Job Approval Letter (JAL).
Impact on Applicants:
If you’re applying from outside Canada and your job is not in the priority list, your chances of approval will drop significantly.
Temporary residents in Canada (with work or study permits) will now have much higher success rates.
Even within capped industries, some applicants may not receive nominations due to quota limits.
Recommendations & Next Steps
Check if your occupation qualifies under SINP’s new priority industries.
Consider first coming to Canada as a temporary resident (work or study permit) to improve your chances.
