2025 Saskatchewan Immigration New Policy is coming!

April 8, 2025

Federal quota cuts

🚨 Attention employers and skilled immigrants!

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is coming in 2025!

The Canadian federal government will reduce the number of nominations by 50% , from 7,250 to 3,625 .

And 75% of the places will be allocated to temporary residents already in Canada !

Closing specific immigration categories

The following immigration categories have been permanently closed since March 27, 2025 :

  • Entrepreneur Category

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Sub-Category

  • Farm Owner/Operator Category

📆 Starting March 27, 2025, key changes will be as follows:

  • Most applicants must already be temporary residents of Canada .

  • Only medical, agricultural and technical professions can directly recruit talents from abroad.

  • New industry restrictions : Some industries, including accommodation and catering, retail, and trucking, will be subject to a 25% quota cap .

  • If your business is not in a priority industry , you can only hire temporary residents who are already in Canada to obtain a Job Approval Letter (JAL) .

Impact on applicants

  • If you are an overseas applicant and your occupation is not one of the priority industries listed above, your chances of success will be significantly reduced.

  • Temporary residents already in Canada (such as those holding work or study permits) will have a higher chance of having their applications successfully processed.

  • Applicants from certain industries may not be nominated due to quota restrictions even if they submit a job approval form.

Recommendations and Actions

  • If you plan to immigrate through the SINP, please confirm whether your occupation is one of the priority industries.

  • Consider entering Canada first with temporary resident status (such as a work or study permit) to increase your chances of success.

  • Pay close attention to the latest announcements from SINP to keep abreast of policy changes
